Synopsis: Francine is a woman with a past even her daughter knows nothing about. In fact, Paula doesn’t know her mother’s real name, because she’s been a fugitive from justice for longer than Paula’s been alive. They live together in a small town in Western New York, and though Fran’s tendency to keep to herself makes her seem eccentric, they live a normal life. Paula, however, is lonely. All of her childhood friends are married and she has become, like her mother, a loner. Fran is worried about this, so when MaryRuth, the new girl in town, befriends her, she is relieved enough to overlook her evangelical outlook. She is, that is, until MaryRuth’s curiosity threatens Francine’s anonymity.
